Salvador Dalì holding a mannequin for his window shop display.
Salvador Dalì for example played with the seductive appeal od mannequins and the possibility of public presentation. In 1939 he designed a surrealistic window shop, consisting of a rose- bedecked model in a feather negligée, a lobster telephone and a bathtub with flowers. The pople in the street were shocked and the owner was obliged to rethink it without the help of Dali.  When Dalì shashed the store window with the part of the bathtub he was arrested, introducing the feeling of drama in the artistic contest far beyond the designed window display giving proof of his critic to consumption.
